Hello,

I would like to ask what the methods are to transform the 6Volt electrics of an XL500S to !2Volts.

Thanks for any help.

Hey!
Question: do you want to change it, because of the power of the lighting at night?

If so, I would first try one of these special H4-lamps you can buy for 6V-XL's.

Yesterday night I drove with a member, who had this special lamp in his XL S.

And it was much brighter than my 12V-original lamp

Best wishes

good strong turn signals

I have put a halogen lamp, it gives better light than the original but certainly not as much as a 12V standard, like the one from my KLR650 for instance.
But the main reason I would like a 12Volt system is that I want functioning turn signals. The 6Volt turn signals are pathetic.

6V -> 12V

Ok, I see now.

I have searched in the forum; there are several themes about that; but of course all in german.

Some guys have changed the complete electric from 6 to 12V.

But you have to change really every single electrical part; including cable wire...

Sorry, can't translate these themes, because of my bad technical english.

You shoud ask a local german member in your area, when you meet them.

Best wishes

Hy Georgios,
If you want working turn signals then switch to an electronic relay and clean all contacts by scraping. That´s cheap and works...
If you´re in Athens, you should be able to locate a Bosch or Hella dealer that stores those.
To convert to 12 V, you need a generator, cdi, voltage limiter (light circuit) and regulator/rectifier for the battery circuit.
Just add it up, you´ll see what´s cheaper in an instance ;)

Have fun,
die Oma

Hy Georgios!

There`s another solution to get functioning turn signals.

Mount 12 Volt LED - Blinker, z.B. from

http://www.louis.de/ ,Katalog-Seite 613

powered by DC- Spannungswandler, z.B. from

http://www1.conrad.de/ , search function.

And following drivers will need sunglasses :D

The turn signal relay can be fitted by yourself, only 6 parts.

If you want the plan, send me your E-Mail-Adress through pn.

best regards
Heinz

Would a 12 Volt LED - Blinker work on a 6Volt system as hbmjka suggested? Do you know of any european on line shop that has electronic relay for 6Volt systems? It would be much easier than searching around Athens to find it.
