oil filter

ok well its about time i changed to oil on the girlfriends bike but not sure where it is on an XL500 as ive had a quick look but cant see it
is it under the belly pan on the bottom of the engine then

oh and you can reply in deutsch as i understand a bit now but still cant schreiben

Hello Del,

there´s no classic oil-filter avaible on the xl 500. They built a sifter at the place shown on the photo below.

arr one of the metal gauze filters i remember them now on the Honda so what has this guy sold me now?
i hate parts people that have not got a clue what they are talking about
ok so it could be an oil breather filter then will have to look at this more tomorrow morgen

Maybe he sold you an Oilfilter for a newer Type of XL500. (I think the Model changed after 1985). The new ones have a completly different engine and: BINGO, an Oilflter!

Which type of XL500 do YOU have? XL500 S, or R? (PD01 or PD02?) Year?

we got an 500S from 1982 so even in germay the parts people are idiots
as we have also ordered a new battery and i keep telling the girl friend to translate to get the shop to charge the battery overnight and the guy keeps telling her that the bike will charge it up :? when its on the bike
yes it will charge it up but...............................?

is it worth it :wall:
