I have just changed the oil in the forks. Someone who can help me to find the correct oil level. My Haynes workshop manual have the height for model 1981 and 1982. My XL500 is from 1980. Or maybe it´s not critical.

Only XL500R: Another way to chek the correct high of the oil-level is, to measure the distance between the upper end of the tube and the oil-level. It must be 163 mm.
Maybe use a folding rule / Fällbara regel (we call it Zollstock)
